The Re-pill-acements

I have been mentally mush the past few days after flying out to see my dad and returning to work. Been stalking you all and reading posts but not commenting much since I can hardly get two words together. But I still love you!

Both sad and happy to report that I have finally reached the point where some clothes give out before I tire of them... unfortunately I'd say it's a quality issue on a couple of these, but at least I did not misjudge the style or functionality.

#1 shows two vacation purchases: a Lululemon jacket to replace my horribly pilled modcloth cardi and a patterned dress to take the spot of my pilled MMK agate print dress. The cardi only lasted... A month? before it felt shabby, but the dress was a workhorse for about a year. Since I usually hold onto dresses way longer and use them less, it's okay to say goodbye.

#3 is a replacement for my defective Trouve blouse, which split down the back - twice. This is a draped front Vince Camoto (online only) in almost the exact same color.

I also need to show you guys my first pair of cowboy boots, and gush about my dad's awesome wife (I want to say stepmother, but does that sound too "evil stepmother"??), bit I will save that for when I am typing on a keyboard an not my phone.

See you more once I get my "LA legs" back. :-)

You look gorgeous in 1, and love your new top too.

I like the new stuff and hate when stuff just falls apart. I was raised by my stepmother and just call her mom but I think that stepmom might be a nice compromise. Get some relaxation time in.

    Killer

I love your grown-up look. And missed you. xo

Nice job - I am seeking some replacements too, but fear I am getting frumpier rather than even more fab as you have.  Sigh.

What are the boots in #1?  I don't recognize the heels.

Your new purchases look wonderful on you. I especially like the dress. The pattern looks great with your bag.

Gorgeous, Rae! That dress is stunning! We missed you like crazy here.

Ditto! Gorgeous! We miss you! (And isn't your hair growing out brilliantly! It looks fantastic!) Now I'm officially on exclamation mark rationing.

Gasping at your fabulousness!  The dress and jacket are more than worthy replacements, and you hair looks amazing.

So glad to hear that you are enjoying your Dad's wife!  That is a true blessing to all of you!  Perhaps you'll need to find your own, unique name to call her.

Oh, I just love the jacket and dress!! You look fab! (I almost blurted that out to a lady at Trader Joe's recently, because she did look fab, but I thought she'd think I was a weirdo.)

YLF rae love the replacements & glad your dad's wife is awesome :)

Welcome back! I am well acquainted with this mush brain you speak of....but how well you look. Love your new duds. You are definitely moving "up" with each new purchase, as Una mentioned (though I doubt that she's become frumpy with hers...). Can't wait to see you!

    Gorgeous dress!

I thought your Lulu jacket was a Spiegel for a second.  Love the little kicky back on it!
I almost got that airport cardi (remember?) but read about pilling and hesitated.  Glad I did.  Sorry you only got a month out of it.  That stinks.  I'm all for wearing out your stuff, but in a reasonable amount of use.

You look awesome in that jacket and dress! Great finds. The print is gorgeous with your black and white touches. I also like the new blouse--very pretty design and color on you.

I love the upgrades, Rae - isn't it so frustrating when things split at the seams? UGH.

Rae, I love both outfits, particularly #1. The jacket looks amazing with the dress! I've been looking for a jacket like that for a while... AND YOU GOT IT AT LULULEMON????? I can't believe that! I haven't set foot in a LULULEMON for quite sometime, so I probably should check them out. I guess they are not selling exclusively workout gear anymore!

I might have it copy you on outfit #2. You look great, and I've been trying to see how I can wear tops like those. They have them at Reitman's here in Canada and they definitely satisfy my romantic/floaty tendencies.

    Thanks for sharing your outfits!!!!

Wow, these are both great looks.  Love the colors of the second outfit and you bookend the black tights so well!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous........... love your new patterned dress :)

You look fabulous as always. Great new additions, love that jacket.  I don't think stepmother sounds evil unless you first say "wicked".

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

    Go Rae! You look amazing.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Love the new jacket! I did not know Lululemon does regular clothes in addition to the gear...
I must say I admire how you rock the expanse of black...something I cannot manage to do. You make it very chic and sophisticated!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

You look great and it is really nice to hear how much you like your "father's wife" (why not give stepmothers a good name by calling her that?)!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Oh, I missed the last few comments!

Get ready: this jacket IS gear. It is a small "urbanite" line they did for people who commute by bike. There are button front shirts and trousers, too. This jacket has reflective strips and is as breathable as a running jacket. Makes me very happy when running up and down the staircases.
