Help me weed out the wish list? (pic heavy)

The good thing about window shopping is that you can "get" everything you want.

The bad thing about window shopping is that you can "get" everything you want!

I've collected a bunch of things on my wish list during May Madness, and now I'm confused as to what is the top priority.

- Sandals: I only have three pairs of sandals, but I can only wear them two days a week, plus summer evenings. Is it better to go for an oxford for work?

- Oxfords: I don't have any oxfords and one pair of wearable pumps - and I have thought they'd go well with three+ outfits so far, but I do have white booties. Are the oxfords redundant?

- Light and white jackets: Should I just be happy with my cream cardi and forget about this?

- Convertible vest: I did want another vest to go with soft blouses - and this one is long, cropped, and also a jacket. But is it a need?

- Orange blazer (the most expensive thing here): Wanted to replace pilling orange blazer. But should I hold off until a sale?

Please let me know if any of these are BBQ for next month, if any should be eliminated, or if any might be perfect for me. Thanks so much!

I need those first sandals. Are they the Miz Mooz?!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Rita, they are Lucky Brand "Moran." I believe they also come in tan and black, depending on which website you look at. Some reviews say that the toe area runs narrow, though that would not be a problem for me.

Ok...I've spent the last 15 minutes looking and re-looking at your wish list and remembering your wardrobe as best I can. This is what I've come up with FWIW:

Sandals: being that you only wear sandals a limited amount of time and already have three pair, I'm not sure this is a need. Are the pairs you own still in good shape, comfortable and compatible with your current style? If so, I might pass on these. If you feel you really need another pair though, I really like the yellow Lucky Brand ones.

Oxfords: you know I love these and thought about them myself. Plus I understand that Bass are pretty darned comfortable. Yes, you already have white booties but I think that's a different sort of vibe than these oxfords. I'd go for these in a second.

Light jackets & vest: I really think the vest could be a versatile piece for you and bring you structure to more flowy pieces when you want.

I can totally see you rocking that super cropped white jacket in pic #14 and would consider that. For some reason, I can't picture you in the yellow jacket.

Orange jacket: You look fantastic in orange so I think a replacement blazer for your pilling one is in order. One of my fave combos of yours is the orange blazer with your light blue button down underneath.

    Here is Big Bossy Me:

Sandals: I like #1 best for work. But #6 looks a million times more comfy.

Oxfords: MUST GET. You have to wear them with your floral cardigan.

Jackets: #14 and #11. The yellow Zara jacket has an odd fit. I LOVE #13, and can see it with your baggy jeans.

OMG I am overwhelmed by choice however FWIW agree with Shannon do you really need sandals if you rarely wear them.Totally see you in those oxfords. Love jacket 12 & the vest. If you need to replace your current orange jacket & have the money I'd grab this one now before it goes out of stock.

All I know is *I* need. To know about the convertible vest/jacket in #8, that is!
I like shoe #1 and jackets #12, 13 and 14. But now I'm not sure if I'm picking for you or me anymore @@

Thank you for spending the time to help reign in my scattered brain. I have hidden yellow jacket #10. So far #1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, and 14 have gotten love - that already helps get the list down to half! Woot!

The oxfords are probably going to be next on the list - Angie, you have been telling me to get oxfords for some time, and since I am finally drawn to some it makes sense to get them. I actually wished I had those today to go with my navy/turquoise blouse as well...

Shannon, you are probably right about the sandals. I should keep an eye on them to see if a good deal emerges, but there is no immediate need, and my nude sandals go with everything.

I have an orphaned beige jacket and some orange dye at home, so I should try that out, now that I think of it. I was saving the dye for a shirt, but now I found my Nexx orange shirt, freeing up the dye.

You need the oxfords and the jacket in #14. I like the idea of the convertible vest but I'm not sure I like the style of this one, plus it's a bit too close to SSB for my liking. Orange jacket looks great too, but, depending on whether or not you think your existing one can still be worn, I might hold off until a sale.

I think the oxfords are BBQ. So unique with such interesting details.

The vest in my mind is the piece here that is so you and it seems very versatile. BBQ in my mind. If you don't at least order it and see how it works I think you may regret it
for a long time. It may not be a need but seems to be the one piece that would really make you smile in every way you wore it.

I like jacket 11 best. I think it would be a workhorse for many years but it may not have all the interesting details that you like in a garment.

Love the sandals in 1 but you may not need them...

  • Debbie replied 11 years ago

Rae I think you need the oxfords and the jacket.

Would you mind telling me what brand the sandals are in 6. Love the color.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

I really like sandal #1. I find any shoe with no heel back or strap flies off my feet so they are just not comfy. I really like vest #9 and think it would work with your breezy style.

  • cinnamon fern replied 11 years ago

I love 11 and 12 - where are they from? I vote one of those, the orange blazer if your dye-ing does not turn out to your satisfaction, and #1 if they are reasonably comfortable.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Debbie those sandals are by Worishofer. They are orthopedic sandals, and I have another style by the brand - super lightweight and comfy, with enough arch support for me despite the lower heel.

CF, 11 and 12 are both from Zara!

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

I vote yes to oxfords since you have none and they are great for walking heavy days. I vote nay to white and light jackets since that sounds like duplicating with your current cardigan.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

I'm throwing in for 4, 8, and14. Those seem most "Rae" to me. Not a big fan of any of the sandals, though I think all of those styles need to be seen on the foot to make a final call.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Looks like 4 and 8 win! Yarg, how many weeks till June again??

Maybe I'll try to dye that blazer ornage tonight, to hold me over.

Thanks again for all your voices of reason - it has been interesting to go from only buying shoes new (and most everything else at swap meets) to allowing for more new things. Kind of like opening the flood gates sometimes. I'm very thankful for the soundingboard here to keep me on track. :)

    14 days Rae!

    Not that we're counting... ;)

So glad 4 made the cut!

Yes, do the dye project. DIY's are great when you can't spend any money!
