WIW: Inspired by Annagybe

This started out as a very different outfit, based on a slideshow Anna sent me, with me layering the yellow shirt over a teal dress... sadly, I've been struggling with that dress and continue to do so. So I reverted to a FFBO formula but tried to keep the color scheme intact. In a perfect world, I would have a white blazer to go over this - tried it with my white cardi, but it fought with the sleeves of the top. I am bringing a chocolate blazer in case I need to keep warm, but I see now that it washes me out a LOT. I also added a light jade bangle bracelet which I'd forgotten for the pic.

Yellow shirt - Anne Taylor
Sloan fit pants - BR
Belt - swap meet
Bag - Goodwill, dyed
80%20 Rina booties - Karmaloop
Jade bracelet - swap meet

I love how this looks! Great colors.

Love! Your outfit is more inspiring to me than the polyvore - although I nearly bought those flat white boots.

You are rocking those Sloanes. :)

    FFBO's are so handy.

Love the black and yellow. But the inspiration had a skirt so the shoes would be more contrast. Just sayin'

This looks really put together Rae and I love you in that yellow blouse.

Is that the AT blouse I posted about a few days ago?
That formula is my foolproof methodology for jean outfits. You'll probably see me in some incarnation of that on Saturday. Can't wait!!!
I'll email all of you once I get on that plane. I'll be super early ( your time) so put your phones on vibrate!!! I don't know how else I can let you know.... 7 hr flight!

Great FFBO! I think I do prefer it without the jacket. Maybe a tuxedo style jacket (like in the inspiration photo) would be fun.

Love! I think it looks fine with the jacket (we all have to bow to the necessity of keeping warm, right?), but without the jacket....wow! The gold and blue really sing against each other. You look amazing!

Ah, thank you! I purposely slept in today to get extra rest, and then had to rush when my planned outfit panned.

Angie, you were the first one to prove to me that white footwear can be done well. :)

Jayne, yes, I did try to do a dress at first! And a tuxedo jacket. But that dress has not been cooperating lately when I try to style it for work.

Zap, no, this blouse is from last year, I believe (was on clearance this Fall). But I do love this formula and wore it with jeans just last weekend. It's so easy peasy. I will probably be up early on Saturday, unable to sleep from the excitement!

Diana, I have had my eyes peeled for a white blazer - I agree it would look better.

K, yes, unfortunately warmth is one of my first considerations. :T

I must have missed something -- what's FFBO?

You look great! I wish I could wear yellow so well.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Janet, for years I thought I could not wear yellow! FFBO is a "fast fall back outfit," though I don't remember where the term came from.

    Love #1 Rae, super cute especially with the light shoes! (You are WORKING the light footwear, I'm so happy for you!) Too bad your orange blazer is pilling (mine is starting to as well), that'd look super with the yellow until you can get a white or cream blazer :}

  • replied 11 years ago

Mwaaaahahaha! What you *need* is a super cropped pleather moto in whisper white, just sayin'. Great outfit. LOVE the footwear!

You look great! If you get a white jacket, you can join me in Miami fighting crime. I could use a partner.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Great outfit! The yellow looks gorgeous on you and I love the blue bag with it.

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

What stunning outfit Rae! I actually like it better than the inspiration. And you do look great in yellow!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Aida, I'm sorry your jacket is pilling. *shakes fist at sky* I noticed one in the Talbots catalog today that I might go online and investigate further. :T

Claire, that might actually be a GREAT idea. My BR cardi is cream, so the color should be ok. Hmmmmm...

Amy, I'll meet you in Miami - let's pick up some Vice sunglasses on the way! Who knew a white blazer could be a little UWP?

You look great from head to toe. Love the blue bag with the yellow blouse :)
