Steampunk Princess

Found this LAMB blouse on clearance at TJ Maxx, and then found some bras to sell at a closing Loehmann's - free blouse!

I absolutely love the swashbuckling, steampunk vibe of the top, but I don't want to feel costumed, so I went for modern bottoms and girly shoes. Will also definitely wear this with pencil skirts.

LAMB top - TJ Maxx
BR Sloans - Banana Republic
Jessica Simpson wedges - Marshall's
Nixon watch - $1 at flea market
B. makowsky bag - Ebay

    Ooh, love it!

This shirt would rock with a pencil and your Julia's (or your steampunk boots)  too.

Rae I want to shop with you!!! Gosh I think I would love every piece here... You know that super distressed jeans??? I would love to pair it with it and your steam punk boots!!!

That top is undeniably fantastic, esp. with the bright shoes. My TJ's doesn't carry LAMB!

Is jealous. LAMB is so hard to find these days.

Totally perfectly awesome.  I love it. You have such a great touch for integrating showstopper pieces and keeping the outfit modern.  Your NAS clients are so lucky to have someone like you!

I'm a little bit in love with the blouse, I love how the volume is balanced by the exposed collarbone and the diagonal turn of sleeves highlights a slender wrist.

That blouse is AMAZE-BALLS on you Rae!!! And you totally removed any pirate reference with your absolutely perfect choice in bottoms and shoes.

Amazing blouse.  Remember when you were talking about setting up a personal shopper/stylist business and I said I'd shop with you anytime?  That still stands.  Here's my credit card Rae - go buy me some clothes. ;-)

Amazing! Annagybe, Cocolion and yourself have been introducing me all sort of new brands that are just so awesome. Great find and I love the slim bottoms to balance the volume.

I need a swashbuckly top now. Need. You are wise to defuse the steampunk vibe a bit the way you did. And PS, that bag is fantastic.

Ceit and Ramya - killer suggestions! Must pair with tall, steampunky boots!

Anna - I didn't realize... too bad I love it or I could probably sell it easily. I hope Gwen gets back into clothing soon.

Shannon - Hehe, I made you say amazeballs. I saw that at lunch, and I smiled the rest of the day.

Sylvie - I really wish I could figure out how to make that a viable business! Really, really. It doesn't really work with me shopping the swap meet for others since there are no returns. I thought about opening an online store, too, but I have no room for storage. I guess I could start by shopping at discount stores like I did with this top?

Nancy - you would also look totally amazeballs in a swashbuckly top. 100% romantic punk!

That blouse is amazing!  It's something I wouldn't have been able to visualize "on" from the hanger; really admire your eye.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Such a great look for you, Rae!  I admire your ability to embrace white shirts.

  • jayne replied 10 years ago

that was super cool, love the pose too!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

That is a gorgeous blouse. I see the 'steampunk' but I also see avant garde. The drape is really lovely. And your very simple styling is perfect.

  • VernieJane replied 10 years ago

The jeans and shoes do make the blouse less pirate-y, which was a good call. The blouse is irresistible, I can see why you had to get it. Love the colour combo of the shoes and bag as well! Great outfit!
