WIW: Lime and Turquoise Waist & Leg Surrender, + DIY Striped Bag

I saw this color combination on Angie's Pinterest board and knew I wanted to wear it ASAP. I suspect this outfit might be deemed seasonally confused by some, but my need for a cozy, comfy outfit trumped all other causes today. As you can see, contrary to my rubric, I have no waist definition to mark the start of my leg line, and nothing to create the illusion of a slimmer midsection. Oh, well, hoping the low-ish contrast between the sweater and dress doesn't chop me up too much.

The DIY included today is my striped satchel, inspired by the Marc Jacobs Dotty. Craft overview here:

    Great proportions and colour blocking!

Have you not been well, Rae? Seems I missed that :-( Feel better soon!

And there is no chopping here, apart from the banded bag strap. I love this outfit: tonal + colour blocking and a nice, long leg line from the 'nude' booties. I love the cozy neckline and strong shoulder of this sweater too. And the 'mojito on the rocks' colours completely prevent seasonal confusion.

Oooh, I LOVE this color combo. I know the slouchy, waist surrendering top is a bit out of your comfort zone, but honestly I think this style is fantastic on you.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Rae - I swear you are the only person who could wear a slouchy sweater OVER a dress and still make it all look summery! Love this colour combo on you and really like the silhouette.

    Please get better soon!

You had me at LIME and TURQUOISE! I love that color combo! The proportions work well and I love your bag, you clever gal!

Thanks for the boosts - really helping to get through the day. I stayed home on Tuesday, but I'm feeling a bit better. Just have to rest, rest, rest until the weekend!

I think I am liking the waist surrender today. My legs don't feel as stubby as I thought - Manidipa, I didn't even think about the fact that I have nude booties on. I guess I am dressing to lengthen the legs after all. Love the "mojito on the rocks" image!

Oh you know I am going to love these colors. You really did that well! The proportions are perfect. Also loved the jacket on pinterest but so expensive...

Love the color pairing! Summer breeze!

Those booties were made for you, Rae!

What a wonderful color combo! I am going to file this away to try with my chartreuse blouse and emerald skinnies :D I think the proportions are great here, and the waist surrender works wonderfully. If your dress was longer then the proportions may get wonkier, but with the just-above-the-knee height everything looks great. The nude boots help here too, I didn't know you ended up with a pair of the Marks! Styled very non-boho and perfectly Rae here, nicely done :)

What a great color combo--I love how you turned the dress into a skirt. I will have to try that sometime myself! I love the DIY stripe bag--so cool! Can't wait to meet you--only 2 days!
